FAQs
What refresh rates does this KVM support in 4K, 2K, 1080P resolutions?
- This KVM at 8 Bit colour depth supports
1) 4K@60Hz backwards compatible;
2) 2K@120Hz backwards compatible;
3) 3440X1440@100Hz backwards compatible;
4) 1080P@240Hz backwards compatible.
- This HDC403-P23 doesn’t support 5120X1440 resolution output, if your monitor features this resolution, we currently have a 4 Port Dual Monitor KVM model DKS402-P23 with DP interface version that can achieve such resolution.
What to do if the monitors does not output triple 4K resolution simultaneously?
- Make sure to use all the input cables provided in the package to connect your computers to the corresponding KVM input ports.
- Ensure that the USB-C ports in connection on your computers support DP alt mode and DP MST mode.
- The latest Mac computer with an ARM processor can only support DP SST mode, so it can only achieve duplicate display on three screens.
- Ensure that the DP port on the PC2 input device in connection features DP 1.2 compliant protocol, which ensures that the 3 monitors can achieve desired display modes as intended
- If your monitors are all 4K monitors, but there is no 4K resolution option in the display settings (only 2K, 1080P or lower options are on the list) after successfully connecting to the KVM, there may be EDID reading compatibility problems between the KVM and the monitors. If you encounter such a situation, please contact us through the contact information below.
Why does the monitors connected to Display A, B, C ports displaying PC1/PC2 output three mirrored screens?
- This may be related to the default setting of your graphics card regarding the MST function of USB-C/DP port when outputting 3 monitors from 1 single source. With R&D testing results, we found that when the graphics card is first accessed to output three monitors through the PC1 USB-C/ PC2 DP port on the KVM, it will be set to duplicate display mode by default, which will result in getting three duplicate screen images. You need to go to computer Display Settings to switch the three screens from duplicate display to extended display in turn to get 3 extended screens.
Why does not the monitors connected to Display A, B, C ports displaying PC1/PC2 output three 4K60Hz screen simultaneously?
- The video signal of PC1 & PC2 outputting on monitors connected to Display A, B, C ports comes from the corresponding USB-C/ DP input port, which features MST technology that supports outputting to 3 screens via one single source. The potential reasons for the above situation are as follows:
1) Due to the bandwidth limitation, the max resolution output via MST can be up to two 4K60Hz 4:4:4 and one 4K30Hz 4:4:4 displays. If you would like to adjust the main monitor to 4K60Hz, while which is currently not displaying 4K60Hz, you can reduce the resolution of any one of the other monitors just to meet the overall bandwidth.
2) The USB-C/ DP port in connection or the converter device involved does not support DP 1.2 compliant protocol, which prevents the monitors from outputting desired resolutions as intended.
3) There may be some compatibility issue between the MST technology involved in our KVM and your input devices, resulting in a failure to obtain the correct EDID data and thus affecting the display performance. If you encounter any of the above cases, please contact us, we are here to help!
What to do if video output can work normally, but USB part is malfunctioning?
- Connect the USB devices to the PC directly bypassing the KVM switch, to check if all USB devices can work normally.
- Make sure that the other types of USB devices are connected to the additional USB 3.0 ports instead of the dedicated K&M ports on the rear panel.
- Pay attention to the total bandwidth occupied by all the external USB devices. The total bandwidth of the USB 3.0 channel on the HDC403-P23 model is 5Gbps, if the total bandwidth occupied by the external USB devices in connection exceeds this upper limit, it will cause the USB devices to be unable to work properly.
- The USB 3.0 port on the front panel supports 7.5W power output, if a USB device that requires more power (e.g. USB mixing consoles) needs to be connected to the KVM, it is recommended that you connect it to the USB 3.0 port on the front panel to ensure it works properly.
What to do if the hotkey is not working?
- Make sure the keyboard has been connected to the dedicated keyboard port on the rear panel (with keyboard and mouse marks)
- Different with the previous version of this model, the default hotkey for the HDC403-P23 as a new version is right CTRL (scroll lock in the previous version). Please use right CTRL to see if the hotkey function can be triggered.
- It supports the keyboard and mouse pass-through mode, and have good compatibility with the mainstream keyboards on the market, but with the iterative upgrading of the keyboards and mice, it is inevitable that there are some models of keyboard and mouse which have potential compatibility issues with our KVM, resulting in the hotkey function can not be triggered normally; If you encounter such a situation, please contact us through the contact information below.
What to do if laptop indicates that the charging power is too low?
- Currently the PC1 USB-C port on the HDC403-P23 supports charging at around 36W; the main reason for limiting the charging power to this standard is due to a combination of factors such as heating concerns that may affect its lifespan. If more charging power needed, you can consider another model as same series, the HDC202-P23, which will provide 60W charging power for the PC1 Input A port; in the future, we will also release the Plus version of this model, which will upgrade to 60W charging power.
